Shoemaker’s shop & Sewingmachines...The effects of the Co-operative Village’s shoemaker’s shop have, for a large part, belonged to Georg Hansen, Glostrup by Egebjerg. However they also include effects from a shoemaker’s shop in Holbæk, among other things the boot hanging by the door. Georg Hansen lived on the same address all his life. After school in Egebjerg he became a shoemaker’s apprentice in Abildøre, but his teacher quit after a few years. However, Georg Hansen had acquired the skills necessary to continue in the trade. It quickly became a side job because he became mailman in Bråde. He drove various routes and helped with the mail delivery in the area of Vig in the summer. It took place, of course, on his bike. Already at the age of 17, Georg Hansen had begun to play the violin at parties and later he began to collect "The Joy of Christmas" from those people who wished to save money for Christmas food and presents. Furthermore, he looked after the smallholder fire cash (insurance) and was also the ringer’s assistant in more than 40 years. You would have to agree that Georg Hansen was a man who energetically worked to make his living as shoemaker, mailman, musician, etc. |
