Glumsø Sawmill...The original Glumsø Sawmill was built in 1890. After a fire in 1916 it was re-built and continued to operate until the early 1970s. The Co-operative Village was allowed to take over the saws from the sawmill and, based on measurements of the old sawmill, local archives, pictures and not least the great help of the owners, the Co-operativeVillage could establish a precise copy of the sawmill’s building for the long-timber saw. The rest of the buildings have through lack of finance not yet been established.
The longtimbersaw is in use some days and weekends and is used for making timber for ourselves. The time will appear in the Co-operative villages activity calendar. The longtimbersaw is currently run by a tractor, but when the rest of the sawmill is reconstructed it will be run by a steam engine.
