The exhibition barn...
The big red barn left of Nyvang’s farmyard exhibits horse carriages, old farming tools and tractors. The Co-operative Village’s Ford AA carrier car from 1931 also stands here, when it is not out driving, that it sometime is...
A part of the barn is at the disposal of the Steamroller Club, which arrives on certain days to drive their Vølund Junior steamroller. It was built in 1928 and drove in the county of Viborg until the early sixties. The club owns eight steamrollers all in all, and when they do not drive, they have plenty to do restoring, among other things, a Marshall roller from 1923 and a Vølund Senior roller from 1931.
When the Co-operative Village opens the doors at ten o’clock Vølund Junior’s boiler is already turned on. Despite of this it can take a bit of time before the roller is rolling along; it takes two and a half hours to put on the pressure. When the driving is over the roller must be rigged off, which takes about one and a half hours.
Vølund Junior is an active steamroller that travels out to arrangements in the whole country.
The annual calendar offers information about when the steamroller is driving, or at www.andelslandsbyen.dk |
