Sandby village hall...

 

Sandby village hall is a copy of the present village hall, as it looked like in 1912.

The village hall was built by entrepaneur Torben Læssø and afterwards donated to the Co-operative Village Nyvang.

In 1912 Sandby village hall was built with the money that was earnt by subscribing shares. A share cost at least 5 kroners and should be paid during 10 years. The result was 3575 kroners = 715 shares.

The building of the house was turned over to carpenter Kr. Ptersen and he should see to it that the house was built for 300 kroners. He was paid 1000 kroners when the house was built ande the rest in the settling day in December. He also quoted 460 kroners for the furniture.

Sandby village hall was inaugurated on the 29th of October, 1912. There was a little party whichstarted at 3 o' clock p. m. with lectures. After that there were food for everybody and a ball.

The village hall was the village stamping ground with gymnastic, amateur performances, bingo in which the prize was a duck, harvest festival, private parties and funeral feast.

One of the hosts of the village hall, Jørgen Jenses' widow, sold coffee with bread for 15 øre,  alcoholic drinks for 30 øre above the price of the Co-operative society and cleaning for 30 kroners.

Sandby village hall in Nyvang was inaugurated in 2007.

 

The village hall can be rented both as a key house and with attendants.
